Dark Energy Recon 2000 Portable Power Station | E-Moto Charging, Overlanding & Off-Grid Power

Rugged 2kWh Portable Power Built for the Field

The Dark Energy Recon 2000 is a rugged, high-capacity portable power station designed for situations where you need real power well beyond the nearest outlet. With 2,016Wh of stored energy and a 2,400W pure sine wave inverter, the Recon 2000 has the output to handle demanding electronics, mobile workstations, camp equipment, remote basecamps, and many compatible e-moto chargers.

What stands out to us is how Dark Energy approached portability. This isn't just a large battery with a handle stuck on top. The Recon 2000 combines a reinforced aluminum shell, oversized wheels, and a telescoping handle so you can actually move a 2kWh-class power station across the kind of terrain where riders, campers, overlanders, and field crews tend to end up.

Can the Recon 2000 Charge an E-Moto?

With 2,400W of inverter output, the Recon 2000 can power many compatible e-moto chargers. The important number to check is the AC input wattage of your charger, not the motor output of your bike.

If your charger requires less than the Recon 2000's 2,400W output, it may be a good match. Higher-output chargers that require more than 2,400W would need a larger power source.

The Recon 2000 also uses a pure sine wave inverter, which is an important feature when you're powering chargers, computers, electronics, and other sensitive AC equipment.

2016Wh of Stored Energy

Output determines whether the power station can run your charger. Capacity determines how much charging you can actually do.

The Recon 2000 stores 2,016Wh, or 2.016kWh of energy. That's a useful amount for an e-moto top-off or partial recharge, but many modern performance electric dirt bikes have batteries larger than 2kWh.

You also have normal energy losses through the inverter, bike charger, wiring, and charging process. Because of that, you shouldn't expect all 2,016Wh of stored energy to make it into the bike battery.

For larger e-motos, we see the Recon 2000 as a strong option for adding range between riding sessions, emergency charging, or topping the bike back up at a remote riding area. For repeated full charges of large e-moto batteries, a larger power station or properly sized generator may make more sense.

2400W Pure Sine Wave Inverter

The Recon 2000 is equipped with a 2,400W pure sine wave inverter, giving it enough output for substantially more than phones and small electronics.

That opens it up to compatible e-moto and e-bike chargers, mobile workstations, computers, camp equipment, field electronics, tools, and other equipment that falls within its output limits.

Pure sine wave output is especially useful for sensitive electronics because it provides AC power designed to more closely resemble the power supplied by a standard utility outlet.

Made to Move Across Real Terrain

Large portable power stations can store a lot of energy, but that doesn't help much if they're miserable to move. Dark Energy addresses that with oversized wheels and a telescoping handle, allowing the Recon 2000 to roll across terrain where carrying a conventional power station would quickly get old.

For track days, overlanding, remote camps, events, and riding areas, that's a feature we really like. You're already moving bikes, tools, riding gear, coolers, stands, and everything else that comes with a day in the dirt. Being able to roll your power source into position makes a noticeable difference.

Reinforced Aluminum Shell

The Recon 2000 is built around a reinforced aluminum shell designed for field use. That construction fits the purpose of this power station well. It's intended to travel, get moved around, and provide power in places where a traditional indoor backup battery isn't the right tool.

For riders and overlanders, that means a portable power source designed around the same basic idea as the rest of your field gear: make it durable enough to bring along and useful enough to earn the space it takes up.

A Serious Track & Basecamp Power Source

The Recon 2000 makes a lot of sense as the central power source for a track-day or remote camp setup. Depending on the individual power requirements, you can use it for the bike charger and then put the same stored energy to work across the rest of camp.

  • Remote basecamp equipment

Battery Power Where a Generator Doesn't Make Sense

A fuel generator is still hard to beat when you need to produce large amounts of electricity for days at a time, but there are plenty of situations where you don't want to deal with one.

The Recon 2000 lets you bring 2.016kWh of stored energy into locations where hauling and operating a traditional generator may be inconvenient. There's no need to start an engine every time you need to run a laptop, charge a camera, or power another compatible device.

For longer trips, the two can also work well together. A generator can handle extended high-energy demands while the Recon 2000 provides stored power around camp or the pits when you don't need the generator running.
