Tomahawk TG4000H 4000W Honda Generator | E-Moto Charging, Jobsite & Backup Power

Reliable Honda-Powered Performance Where You Need It

The Tomahawk TG4000H Portable Generator steps up to a larger, work-ready platform with a proven Honda GX200 engine, 3,500 rated watts, and 4,000 maximum starting watts. For riders who need more charging capacity at the track, campsite, or off-grid riding spot, the additional continuous output gives you more room for an e-moto charger plus lights, tools, a refrigerator, or other equipment.

This is also a different style of generator than Tomahawk's smaller TG2000i and TG3000i inverter models. The TG4000H uses AVR voltage regulation and is designed as a rugged conventional portable generator for jobsites, backup power, recreational use, and equipment. It also gives you something the smaller 120V inverter models don't offer: both 120V and 240V output.

At the center of the TG4000H is the 200cc Honda GX200, an engine with a long-standing reputation for dependable commercial and industrial use. Pair that with a 3.9-gallon fuel tank, up to 8 hours of runtime at half load, GFCI outlets, overload protection, low-oil shutdown, and surge protection, and this is a generator built for riders and professionals who expect their equipment to work when they need it.

Honda GX200 Engine

The Honda GX200 200cc engine is one of the biggest reasons to consider the TG4000H. It's designed around dependable performance, durability, and fuel efficiency, making this generator well suited for jobsites, emergency backup, camping, race pits, and remote locations where reliability matters.

The larger 3.9-gallon fuel tank provides up to 8 hours of runtime at half load, with listed fuel consumption of approximately 0.38 gallons per hour.

Tomahawk TG4000H 4000 Watt portable generator

4000 Watts of Portable Power

The TG4000H delivers 4,000 maximum starting watts and 3,500 rated running watts. That additional continuous capacity gives you considerably more room for higher-power equipment or multiple loads compared with a smaller portable generator.

For an e-moto setup, the important number is the 3,500W rated output. That's the number you should use when determining whether the generator can continuously support your charger and anything else you want to operate at the same time.

120V & 240V Output

The TG4000H provides two 120V outlets and one 240V outlet, giving it considerably more flexibility than a basic 120V-only generator. GFCI protection is also included.

For e-moto charging, always match your charger to the correct voltage and outlet requirements. Do not connect a 120V-only charger to 240V. If your charger supports multiple input voltages, verify its specifications and required connection before use.

What Size Generator Do I Need for My E-Moto?

Choosing a generator for your e-moto is pretty simple: size it based on your charger, not your bike's motor. A 20kW e-moto does not need a 20,000W generator.

Quick Formula:
Charger Watts + Other Equipment + 20 to 30% Headroom = Recommended Generator Size

Example: If your e-moto charger uses 1,000W and you want another 300W available for lights, a fridge, phones, or other gear:

1,000W + 300W = 1,300W

Add about 25% headroom and you should look for roughly 1,600W or more of continuous/running output.

The TG4000H provides 3,500 rated watts, giving you substantially more available continuous power than that example requires. That additional capacity can be useful with larger chargers, multiple compatible chargers, or a track and camping setup where other equipment needs to run while your bike charges.

For sustained charging, use the TG4000H's 3,500W rated output for your calculations. The 4,000W maximum starting output should not be treated as continuous charging capacity.

If your charger lists AC input voltage and amperage rather than watts, you can get a quick estimate using Volts x Amps = Watts. When available, use the charger's listed AC input wattage or manufacturer specifications for the most accurate number.

Charging More Than One E-Moto

The TG4000H's 3,500W rated output can make it a good candidate for multi-bike riding trips, but whether it can operate multiple chargers depends entirely on the chargers themselves.

For example, two chargers drawing 1,000W each would create approximately a 2,000W continuous charging load. A 500W refrigerator, lights, and other equipment would need to be added on top of that. Always calculate the entire load and leave reasonable headroom rather than planning to operate the generator continuously at its maximum rating.

Inverter Generator vs. AVR Generator

The TG4000H uses AVR voltage regulation rather than the inverter technology found in the TG2000i and TG3000i. AVR helps maintain consistent generator voltage as loads change and is commonly used for portable generators powering tools, equipment, appliances, and backup loads.

If your main goal is powering especially sensitive electronics or a specific e-moto charger, check the charger's input requirements before choosing a generator. For applications where power quality is a primary concern, an inverter generator may be the better choice.

Generator or Power Station?

Both can work for e-moto charging. A fuel-powered generator such as the TG4000H offers the advantage of extended operation as long as you have fuel available.

For portable battery power stations, check both the AC output wattage and battery capacity in Wh or kWh. Output determines whether the power station can operate your charger. Battery capacity determines how much stored energy is available to put back into the bike, before accounting for normal conversion and charging losses.

Track, Camping & Emergency Use

If you're charging multiple e-motos or running additional equipment, add everything together. Your e-moto charger, lights, refrigerator, tools, speakers, electronics, and other equipment all contribute to the generator's total load.

With 3,500 rated watts, 120V and 240V output, a Honda GX200 engine, and a 3.9-gallon fuel tank, the TG4000H makes the most sense for riders and professionals who prioritize runtime, output, and durability over ultra-light portability.

EV Charging

Some generators can potentially provide emergency charging for a Tesla or other EV, but EV charging has additional electrical, grounding, charging-equipment, and compatibility requirements. The TG4000H does provide 120V and 240V output, but that does not automatically make it compatible with a particular EV or EV charger. Always verify the generator, vehicle, EVSE, grounding, and electrical requirements before attempting EV charging.
