Tomahawk TG3000i 3000W Inverter Generator | E-Moto Charging, Camping & Backup Power

More Charging Power Without the Bulk of a Large Generator

The Tomahawk TG3000i 3000W Inverter Generator packs serious portable power into a compact 53 lb package. For e-moto riders, that combination makes the TG3000i especially useful for charging at the track, race pits, campground, trailhead, or anywhere else a normal wall outlet isn't available.

With 3,000 rated watts, 3,300 starting watts, 120V output, and less than 3% total harmonic distortion, the TG3000i has considerably more charging headroom than a smaller portable generator while still measuring just 20 x 12 x 19 inches. That extra continuous output can make a big difference when you're using a higher-output e-moto charger or want to run additional equipment while the bike charges.

The advanced inverter system produces clean, stable AC power for compatible battery chargers, computers, electronics, tools, lights, speakers, appliances, and other equipment. Add a 1.1-gallon fuel tank, up to 8 hours of runtime at half load, 62 dBA noise rating, and parallel capability, and you have a versatile generator that can work just as well for a weekend of riding as it can for camping, jobsites, or emergency backup power.

Why We Like It for E-Moto Riders

The standout feature here is the 3,000W rated continuous output. You don't need a generator that matches the motor output of your e-moto. You need one that can comfortably handle the AC power requirements of your charger.

That makes the TG3000i a strong middle-ground option for riders who want more charging capability and usable overhead without jumping straight into a much larger generator. If your charger is pulling substantial power, or you want to charge while also running lights, a fridge, tools, phones, or other pit equipment, the additional output gives you more room to work with.

The TG3000i is also parallel capable, allowing two compatible TG3000i units to be connected when your power requirements grow beyond what a single generator can provide.

Tomahawk TG3000i 3000W inverter generator 120V outlets

Two 120V Outlets

The TG3000i features two 120V GFCI-compliant receptacles for connecting compatible e-moto chargers, electronics, lights, appliances, tools, jobsite equipment, and other 120V loads.

When you're running several devices at once, add their power requirements together. Everything connected to the generator contributes to the total load, including your e-moto charger.

Tomahawk TG3000i overload protection and low oil alert

Overload & Low Oil Protection

Built-in overload protection, low-oil shutdown, GFCI protection, and surge protection help safeguard the generator and connected equipment. These protections are especially useful when you're running several pieces of equipment from one portable power source.

What Size Generator Do I Need for My E-Moto?

Choosing a generator for your e-moto is pretty simple: size it based on your charger, not your bike's motor. A 20kW e-moto does not need a 20,000W generator.

Quick Formula:
Charger Watts + Other Equipment + 20 to 30% Headroom = Recommended Generator Size

Example: If your e-moto charger uses 1,000W and you want another 300W available for lights, a fridge, phones, or other gear:

1,000W + 300W = 1,300W

Add about 25% headroom and you should look for roughly 1,600W or more of continuous/running output.

The TG3000i provides 3,000W of rated output, giving you substantially more room than that example requires. That extra capacity can be useful with higher-output chargers, additional equipment, or charging setups where you simply want more operating headroom.

For sustained e-moto charging, use the generator's 3,000W rated output when calculating your available power. The 3,300W starting output is not the number you should use for continuous charging loads.

If your charger lists AC input voltage and amperage rather than watts, you can get a quick estimate using Volts x Amps = Watts. When available, use the charger's listed AC input wattage or manufacturer specifications for the most accurate number.

Charging More Than One E-Moto

The TG3000i's additional output can also make it more useful when you're bringing multiple bikes to the track. To determine whether you can operate two chargers simultaneously, add the AC input wattage of both chargers, then account for any additional equipment and leave reasonable generator headroom.

For example, two 1,000W chargers would create approximately a 2,000W charging load before adding lights, tools, refrigerators, or other equipment. Always verify the actual input requirements of your chargers before connecting them.

Generator or Power Station?

Both can work. For fuel-powered generators, we generally recommend a quality inverter generator for charging e-motos and sensitive electronics. The TG3000i uses inverter technology and produces less than 3% total harmonic distortion.

For portable battery power stations, check both the AC output wattage and battery capacity in Wh or kWh. Output tells you whether the power station can operate your charger. Capacity determines how much stored energy is available to put back into your bike, before accounting for normal conversion and charging losses.

Track, Camping & Emergency Use

If you're charging multiple e-motos or running other equipment at the same time, simply add those power requirements to your total. Your charger, lights, refrigerator, tools, speakers, phone chargers, and other equipment all contribute to the generator's total load.

With its combination of 3,000W rated output, 53 lb weight, compact dimensions, and inverter technology, the TG3000i is well suited for track days, race pits, camping, remote riding areas, construction sites, food trucks, and emergency backup power.

EV Charging

Some generators can potentially provide emergency charging for a Tesla or other EV, but EV charging has additional electrical, grounding, charging-equipment, and compatibility requirements. Do not assume a generator is compatible with an EV simply because it has sufficient wattage. Always verify compatibility with the vehicle, charging equipment, and generator requirements before attempting EV charging.
