The Tomahawk TG2000i Inverter Generator is a compact gasoline generator that makes a lot of sense for e-moto riders who want portable charging power without hauling around a huge generator. For an e-moto rider, the important number is not how many kilowatts your bike's motor makes. What matters is how much power your battery charger pulls from the generator. That means a 12kW, 20kW, or even higher-powered e-moto may still be chargeable from a generator this size if its charger stays within the generator's available continuous output.

At just 52 lbs with a compact 20 x 12 x 19-inch footprint, the TG2000i is small enough to bring to the track, campsite, race pits, jobsite, or other off-grid locations. Why We Like It for E-Moto Riders

The 2,100W rated output gives you enough power for many common e-moto charging setups while still leaving you with a generator that's reasonably easy to transport. The 1.1-gallon fuel tank provides up to 8 hours of runtime at half load, and the generator operates at a rated 58 dBA.

If you need more power later, the TG2000i is also parallel capable. Two compatible TG2000i units can be connected for additional available power when the job calls for it. This can be especially useful for riders running multiple chargers or powering additional equipment at the same time.

If you're using more than one device at the same time, remember that all connected equipment contributes to the generator's total load. Stay within the generator's rated output and leave reasonable operating headroom.

What Size Generator Do I Need for My E-Moto?

Choosing a generator for your e-moto is pretty simple: size it based on your charger, not your bike's motor. A 20kW e-moto does not need a 20,000W generator.

Quick Formula:
Charger Watts + Other Equipment + 20 to 30% Headroom = Recommended Generator Size

Example: If your e-moto charger uses 1,000W and you want another 300W available for lights, a fridge, phones, or other gear:

1,000W + 300W = 1,300W

Add about 25% headroom and you should look for roughly 1,600W or more of continuous/running output.

With 2,100 rated watts, the TG2000i has more continuous output than that example requires. When determining whether this generator will work with your particular e-moto charger, use the 2,100W rated output rather than the 2,200W starting rating, and leave reasonable headroom rather than planning to operate the generator at its maximum output continuously.

If your charger lists its AC input in volts and amps instead of watts, a quick estimate can be made using Volts x Amps = Watts. When available, use the charger's listed AC input wattage or manufacturer specifications for the most accurate number.

Generator or Power Station?

Both can work. For fuel-powered generators, we generally recommend a quality inverter generator for charging e-motos and sensitive electronics. The TG2000i is an inverter generator and produces less than 3% total harmonic distortion.

For portable battery power stations, check both the AC output wattage and battery capacity in Wh or kWh. Output tells you whether the power station can run your charger, while capacity determines how much stored energy is available to put back into your bike. Real-world charging will also have some energy loss during AC conversion and battery charging.

Track, Camping & Emergency Use

If you're charging multiple e-motos or running other equipment at the same time, simply add those power requirements to your total. Lights, refrigerators, tools, speakers, chargers, and other equipment all count toward the generator's available output.

This makes the TG2000i a useful option for track days, race pits, camping, off-grid riding trips, jobsites, and emergency backup power where a normal wall outlet may not be available.

EV Charging

Some larger generators can potentially provide emergency charging for a Tesla or other EV, but EV charging has additional electrical, grounding, charging-equipment, and compatibility requirements. Do not assume a generator is compatible with an EV simply because it has sufficient wattage. Always verify compatibility with the vehicle, charging equipment, and generator requirements before attempting EV charging.
