Incredible scooter lots of fun
Really love my Zero 10X 60v. I use it to commute back and forth from my home to my small business office each day. It's only about a mile, but it has steep hills and I'm a hefty (235 lbs) guy, so my Segway Ninebot Max just couldn't cut it.
The 10X dual motor has plenty of power and the speed is awesome. I'm generally going 32 kph even up steep hills, so it's clear that the 2000 watts of motor is more than sufficient and that I'm speed limited electronically (would love to be able to hit 48 kph/30 mph so I could do the speed limit of my small community roads, nudge nudge).
The suspension is great and a big improvement over my Segway Ninebot. While I like the Segway too and have used it quite a bit, it can't handle the 'normal' bumps and cracks of a bike lane / sidewalk commute like the suspension of the Zero 10X can, so I had to slow it down and dodge constantly. The better tires and suspension of the Zero 10X is tolerant of quite a bit so I spend much less time worrying about the pavement conditions.
The dual hydraulic disk breaks are great, and I use them extensively when commuting at speed and stopping on steep downslopes. They can occasionally rub a bit after use, but they seem to self realign after a little travel.
I'm not sure about the battery life / distance of the scooter yet. I haven't tested it much. I run it in dual motor performance mode and the electric battery estimate drops from 5 to 1.5ish bars after a round trip of ~1 mile. I'm not sure if this means I have a real range of just 2 miles or if the electronic battery estimate is just overly sensitive to voltage drop. Haven't had the willingness to run it until it's stalled to find out. For me, this is OK, but I'm buying a second charger so I can charge it at the office, as I'm too timid to run multiple trips in one day right now and only charge at home. Would really have liked to feel like I can do at least 4-5 round trips on a charge (8-10 miles), given that it's advertised as a 35-40 mile range. This also bodes poorly for the future as the battery naturally loses capacity over time.
Was disappointed that the steering column didn't fold & lock for carry. Prior to purchase I looked into this because I really like this feature of the Segway Ninebot Max, and it seems like other versions of the Zero series do this, but my 10X does not. It has a simpler set of pressure rings holding the column in place, and you release the column but it doesn't become a carry handle. Given the weight of the 10X, this is probably a questionable feature, as my much lighter Segway Ninebot Max is already at the limit of what I would want to pick up and carry on a daily basis.
Ordering & shipping process went smoothly, scooter was well packaged and arrived in great condition.
The final proof is I'm buying another 10X for my older kids. With the pros and minuses above, I come out solidly on the "love it" side. And for the goals of having a short distance commuter which is easier on the knees than a bike and quick enough that I don't feel tempted to 'just grab the car to save a few minutes', it's been a huge win for me.
Really the best e-scooter for the money
I received my scooter today.
First thoughts are that it has good acceleration and with some adjustments the brakes work very well. Had to center the brake pads for the front and rear. Found the front disc warped as it touched the brake pads at certain points when I rotate the front wheel. I wish it had a twist throttle vs the pull lever. It just feels safer having a full grip on the bars specially at higher speeds.
